Although right now you wouldn’t really say so based on the
Belgian weather, in a few weeks it will be time to take our winter garments out
of the closet and change them for our spring/summer wardrobe. To help you with this
process, we decided to make a list of the three things you will absolutely not see
us wearing during the coming spring and summer season.
FLORALS
There’s no better way to start this list off than with one
of the biggest spring/summer clichés, the floral print. If you want to bore us, go ahead and throw on
that floral printed blouse or skirt, but in the words of Miranda Priestly:
florals for spring, groundbreaking.
COLORBLOCKING
This summer, it’s time to forget about color blocking (the
trend that started in 2011 and has been going on for way too long). The ‘a rainbow puked all over me’ look is
very 2011, give our eyes a rest and try combining one strong color with some
subtle/pastel colors. If you want to go bold, opt for an outfit in one bold
color, a little birdy told us bright (Christmassy) red is going to be big
coming summer! Also, why not be brave and conquer the sun in an all black
outfit? Black is still (one of) the hottest color(s) in fashion.
SUMMER WEDGES
Unless you’re paying a visit to your caravan this summer,
wearing any type of ‘summer wedges’ is a big fat fudging no. This type of shoe,
which you will often find on the feet of a rich woman at the Belgian seaside or
on a shoerack at a Hilfiger (or maybe even Abercrombie, who knows) store, has
never been on our favorite list. I would say “this shoe is so …” and then throw
in a year inbetween 2005 and 2008, but really I can not think of a year in
which wearing this shoe was a good idea. So ladies, if you own a pair of these
do yourself and the people around you a pleasure and keep them in the closet
and if you’re thinking of buying them, change your mind.
So that's cleared up, this summer you'll see me sporting a lot of black (as usual), no florals (as usual) and definitely no summer wedges, which would look weird anyways since I'm a guy.
Cheers!
